Icarus and the Waters

When I am away from you, you fret;
Your petulant desire is greedy for me.
When I return, you are sleekly amiable and content
And mellow with my apparent abundance.

Fierce and quick, this wild heart flames intently
A scorching danger to those nearby.
Come, my Icarus, put on your wings and flirt with danger.
This fire will consume us both

Adrift in my ocean
You search the surreal waters
In order to discern
What might lie below.
On the verge of discovery
You are suddenly blinded
By blackening skies
Ominous with dark portent.
Raging winds spin you wildly in whirlpools of confusion
Once inviting waters come crashing down around you
Threatening to pull you into their murky depths
For having dared disturb
The fury of my fear
Panic-stricken
You swim frantically
Seeking the safe solitude of shore, but...
Just as you step onto firm sand
The clouds dissipate and drift away --
Soft rays of sunshine warm the calming waters
Lure you to frolic again in the ever-changing tides of my personality.
