When you were born, I was already losing my baby teeth,
But it would be decades before I would be dazzeled by your smile.
When you were born, I was already performing
Pretending to read long Bible passages I had memorized
But I hadn't met my favorite co-star.
When you were born, I was already laughing,
But I still didn't know the joy of your humor.
When you were born, I was already dancing,
But I had yet to meet my lifelong partner
When you were born, I already had my first crush,
But I would wait more than thirty years
Before I would fall for the love of my life.
You were well wotrth the wait.
From the day you were born
